ORLANDO, Fla -- Barry University freshman golfer Eduardo Matarazzo was named the Sunshine State Conference men's golfer of the week for the week of March 30 - April 5th. The award, which is presented by Pollo Compero, is Matarazzo's third time winning the award this year.
The rookie from São Paulo, Brazil, fired a -9 (70-70-67--207) at the Battle of the Lakes, hosted by Barry, to place second. He delivered a strong performance throughout the tournament, leading the team in par-4 scoring while showcasing consistency and control across all three rounds. The freshman finished tied for seventh in total birdies with 15 and recorded just six bogeys, placing him among the top five in the field for fewest bogeys. His best showing came in the third round, where he carded six birdies and finished 5-under. He was the only Buccaneer to finish the tournament under par and demonstrated remarkable steadiness, playing 48 of 54 holes at par or better while totaling 33 pars. The result marked his fourth top-10 finish and third top-two finish of the season, continuing an impressive year of play.
