Men’s Tennis Tops Sailfish to Cap Off Perfect Conference Run

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The number two-ranked Barry University men's tennis team capped off a perfect conference season with a dominant 7-0 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic. The win improves the Bucs to 18-0 in the regular season and secures back-to-back regular-season conference championships for Barry.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Barry set the tone early, sweeping all three doubles flights to take a 1-0 lead into singles.
  • In singles play, Loop was first off the court, cruising past Marko Visontai on court five with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 victory
  • Chapuis followed suit on court three, delivering another quick win over Hoyos, 6-1, 6-0, to push the Bucs within one point of securing the win.
  • Kodjoed secured the team victory on court one, defeating Milan Visontai 6-3, 6-1.
  • Machado continued the momentum on court two, rallying for a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Franco after battling back from a 4-1 deficit in the second set.
  • Loup added another point with a 6-4, 6-3 victory against Dragar on court four.
  • Samucewicz capped off the sweep on court six, taking down Young 6-3, 6-3 to complete the Bucs dominant performance.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Loup is undefeated this season in singles, with a 6-0 record.
  • Loop is also undefeated, with a 4-0 record this season.
  • The Bucs will be the number one seed in the conference tournament.
  • Barry is now the regular-season conference champs for the second year in a row.
