WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers baseball split a twin bill against Point Park and St. Michael's at the Russ Matt Baseball Classic in Winter Have, falling to the Bison 1-0, but rebounding to beat the Knights 16-2 in seven innings.

- B1 - The Knights got on the board first. Jack Pattison drew a lead-off walk. Sam Cavossa reached on a fielder's choice that erased Pattison, but he advanced to second on an error. Max Kolfrath singled to left to drive in Cavossa and, after a base hit by Richard Gilroy, Kolifrath scored on a single from Trevor Arsenault. | SMC 2, Barry 0
- T3 - Barry chipped a run of the lead with a single run in the third. Lee-Anthony Santiago was hit by Knight starter Keegan Burke (0-2) with one out and Aramis Ramirez, Jr., singled. After the pair worked a double steal, Zavier Hatfield drove in Santiago with a sacrifice fly. | SMC 2, Barry 1
- T4 - The Bucs took the lead in the fouth. Blake Opie doubled to open the frame and scored on a double by Erik Blair. Aquiles Arzeno singled to put runners at the corners. Santiago drove in Blair with a single to left and Arzeno moved to third. After a pitching change, both runners moved up on a wild pitch. - T5 - Barry broke open the game with a six-run fifth inning. Jalen Smith singled and Opie followed with his team-leading eighth homer of the year. Blair and Anthony Tralongo hit back-to-back doubles for another run. After a pitching change and two outs, Ramirez knocked in Tralongo and later scored on a wild pitch. | Barry 10, SMC 2

NOTEWORTHY:
- Ramon Rodriguez (1-0) went the distance for the Bison in game one to earn the win. He shutout the Bucs on two hits and struck out 10, throwing only 84 pitches.Â
- Kyle Fernandes (1-1) took the loss for Barry. He gave up the only run on three hits and a walk in three innings, and struck out five.Â
- The 1-0 shutout was only the ninth in program history and the first since losing to Florida Southern on Mar. 24, 2012. It was only the second non-conferece 1-0 loss. The first was against Villanova on Mar. 15, 1995.
- Pavlos Piperakis (3-1) worked five innings, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks and struck out 10 to get the win over the Knights.
- Burke took the loss, allowing six runs on six hits and a walk in 3.1 innings.Â
- Opie had a career day, going 5-for-5 with four doubles and a homer in game two. He scored four and drove in four. His five hits are tied for third in program history, the four doubles are a school record and the 12 total bases ties the mark set by Keith Barton at Lynn on Feb. 8, 2023.
- Santiago, who had one of the two hits in the opener, went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in game two.
