Softball's Barry Walks Off Eagles for SSC Sweep

Chandler Barry delivered the walk off single to sweep Embry Riddle

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Chandler Barry ended the weekend on a high note, walking off the Eagles of Embry Riddle with a drive to right center in the bottom of the seventh. This extends Barry's win streak to four in a row as they win their second straight Sunshine State Conference series. The Buccaneers have now swept the Eagles in back to back years.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: Barry 4, Embry Riddle 3
Records: Barry (11-11, 5-1 SSC), ERAU (3-11, 0-6 SSC)
All-Time Series: Barry leads 16-14

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • B4 - The Buccaneers cracked the scoreboard first in the bottom of the fourth. Vivian Billard doubled off the fence to straight away center to lead things off. A sacrifice bunt from Kiera Strub moved her 60 feet away. With two-away, Cameron Marchese drew a walk and stole second and Harper Bunn reached on a catcher's interference to load the bases. Serah Shafer flipped over to the right side of the plater and delivered the big hit with a double to left center, clearing the bases. | Barry 3, ERAU 0
  • T5 - As the narrative has been all week, the Eagles struck back. An inside the park home run scored two, followed by a home run that went over the left field fence to tie the game up. | Barry 3, ERAU 3
  • T7 - After a two hour lightning delay, Alexis Martin was into relief the circle. She went three up three down recording two punch outs. | Barry 3, ERAU 3
  • B7 - Serah Shafer led the inning off and used her speed for a bunt single. Tucker had a sacrifice bunt to get her to second and a Langlie ground out got her to third. With two away it came down to Chandler Barry to deliver and not head into extras. She did more than enough to send one to the fence to bring in Shafer and win the game. | Barry 4, ERAU 3
NOTEWORTHY:
