LAKELAND, Fla. - Jack Ensell added the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America NCAA Division II South Region Pitcher of the Week to his awards collection on Wednesday.
Ensell tossed six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out 14 as the Bucs won the series opener 2-0 against Nova Southeastern University. He faced 23 batters, leaving them with a .105 BA over 19 at-bats. His 14 strikeouts rank as the fourth most in school history and the most per inning in a game (2.33 strikeouts per inning).Â
The award is the first of the season and the first of his career.
The Bucs (11-3, 2-1 SSC) hit the road for the first time this season, visiting the Eagles of Embry-Riddle (3-7, 1-2 SSC) this weekend.
