MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers dropped both games by scores of 6-3 and 24-9 to Wellington Baseball Academy on Wednesday afternoon at Feinbloom Field in junior varsity baseball action.

- T1 - Anthony Iaciafano started the scoring off for Wellington by hitting a home run to left center field. | Wellington 1, Barry 0
- B1 - Aquiles Arzeno began his busy day with a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Ben Rhode. | Barry 1, Wellington 1

- T1 - Wellington jumped out to a big lead early. Grady Endemann started the scoring with an RBI double, bringing home Mencho. After three RBI singles from Zachary Pollock, Wayne Slade, and David Brongo, Mencho came back up to bat and hit a bases-clearing RBI double to cap off the big first inning for Wellington. | Wellington 7, Barry 0
- B1 - Barry responded with runs of their own, a double from Hurt scored Rhode, and a sacrifice fly from Arzeno brought home Hurt later in the inning. | Wellington 7, Barry 2
- T2 - Wellington picked right up where they left off in the first, with RBI singles from Slade, Brongo, and Endemann. Ferrer and Iaciafano both work walks with the bases loaded to each bring home a runner each, and Mencho reached on a fielding error by Preston Haase to score another. - B2 - Barry continued to fight early. After they loaded the bases, Vynn Buerosse slipped an RBI single through the right side to score Chino Palomino. Later in the inning, Arzeno hit a grand slam to deep right field, scoring Rhode, Will Myers, and Buerosse. | Wellington 14, Barry 7
- T3 - Slade scored on a wild pitch from Alejandro Ramos Ponce. | Wellington 15, Barry 7

- B5 - After Barry loaded the bases, Colin Brosnan reached on an error by third baseman James Dono, scoring Palomino. Arzeno continued to rack up RBI by grounding out to second base, bringing in Myers. | Wellington 19, Barry 7
- T6 - Wellington put up five more runs to seal the game, starting with an RBI single from Parker Shoup to score Pollock. Ferrer followed up with an RBI single to score Slade. And with the bases loaded, Dono was hit by a pitch to score Shoup. After a pair of infield groundouts each scored a run, Endemann reached on a fielding error by Haase, allowing Dono to score. | Wellington 24, Barry 9
NOTEWORTHY:
- George Stringos (0-1) took the loss in game one for the Bucs, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks in 5.0 innings.
- Anthony Iaciafano had a two-hit, two-RBI game, including a home run for Wellington.
- Ben Rhode caused havoc on the bases again, stealing four times in game one, which tied his own single-game record.
- Cameron McFadden (1-0) took the win for Wellington, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and five strikeouts in 4.0 innings of work.
- Aiden McCarthy (0-1) took the loss in game two, giving up seven runs (six earned) on six hits in just one inning.
- Arzeno drove in six runs in game two, including a grand slam, tying the record for RBI in a single JV game held by Gian Dominguez since 2022 when he did it against St. Thomas. The grand slam was the first ever for the junior varsity.
- Tyler Atkins (1-0) earned the win for Wellington, giving up just one run on three hits and five strikeouts in three innings of work.
