Women's Tennis Moves to a Perfect 4-0 Start for the Season

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Bucs have a perfect regular season start after defeating FNU on Tuesday Feb. 17th to move the Bucs to a 4-0 record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Bucs won the first doubles match because of a forfeit from FNU.
  • The Bucs then took the doubles point, after winning both matches.
  • Singles started with the Bucs up 2-0, because of a forfeit by FNU 
  • Martinez was the first finish winning her match 6-0, 6,-0 giving the Bucs another point. 
  • Sperb went on to finish second clinching the match for the Bucs defeating Reyes 6-2, 6-1 making it so the Bucs took the win. 
  • Brasil then won her match for Barry defeating Labrador 6-3, 6-1. 
  • Brun won her match moving the Bucs to 5-0. 
  • Lastly, Whalen won her match making the final score 6-0. 

NOTEWORTHY:

  • The Bucs have never lost to FNU 
  • The Bucs have only ever lost 3 sets to FNU  

ON THE HORIZON

The Bucs head to Indianapolis, IN to participate in the three day ITA Indoor Championship, with their first opponent being #8 UIndy on Friday, Feb. 20. The Bucs are looking to being home their Indoor Championship since the 2023 season.
