Women's Tennis Topples Knights To Open Conference Play

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The top ranked Bucs started off the 2026 Sunshine State Conference women's tennis season with a 5-2 win over their arch-rival, the Lynn Fighting Knights at the Perper Tennis Center on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Knights took the doubles point, winning at the top and bottom flights.
  • Barry' Crespo and Lutringer defeated Garcia and Koshiki Mosimann at the middle flight 6-3.
  • In singles, Anger quickly evened the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Cakarevic at number six.
  • Dema put the Bucs on top at number three, defeating Garcia 6-2, 6-2.
  • Heimen made it 3-1 for Barry, with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Younes.
  • Lutringer clinched the match for the Bucs, beating Galmiche 6-1, 7-5 at the fourth flight.
  • With the match in the bag, the team split the final two courts.
  • Michalitsch got a 6-1, 6-4 win over Koshiki Mosimann at number five.
  • At the top flight, Crespo carried the #2 ranked Djoubri to three sets, before falling in the super tie-breaker, 7-4(4), 1-6, 10-8.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Although the Knights lead the overall series, Barry has won 15 of the last 17. 
  • The Bucs have won 11 straight conference matches.

ON THE HORIZON

The Bucs host the 11th-ranked Florida Southern Moccasins on Saturday, Feb. 14.
