Men's Basketball Loses Midweek in Lakeland

LAKELAND, Fla. -- The Barry Men's Basketball team traveled for their first road game of 2026. They took on Florida Southern from the Jenkins Field House on Wednesday evening and fell 97-84.

SUMMARY:

  • 1H - Florida Southern opened the game on a 7-0 run, scoring all within 40-seconds as the Bucs committed quick fouls to send them to the free throw line to score four of those. Barry did not make their first field goal until Malik Stanley came in off the bench and dropped in a three-point basket at 10:41. Stanley ended up with 11 in the half. The Bucs shot 42 from the field, and 68.8 from the line after 16 attempts. FSC knocked down nine threes in the period that helped boost the score.   • Malik Stanley had a game-high and season-high 26, it is two points shy of his career-high. 
  • Marko Šarenac picked up his eighth double-double this season with 19 points and 16 rebounds.
  • He leads the SSC and had his second-most rebounds in a game.
  • Warren had 14 points off the bench.
  • Jose Benitez contributed nine points and seven rebounds with four assists.
  • The Bucs outscored the Tars in the paint, 38-22 and 47-31 in bench points.

Barry will stay on the road and head to Tampa on Saturday, January 10.
