ST. CLOUD, Minn. — In the first test on the early season, Barry Women's Volleyball prevailed over 10th-ranked St. Cloud State as the Buccaneers wrapped up a clean sweep at the UP North Tournament. This was the second meeting all time the first happened in Miami Shores 30 years ago, where Barry swept the Huskies.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Set One - St. Cloud used the home court advantage and got out to an early 9-5 lead. That was until the Buccaneers locked in for five straight points and took their first lead in the match at 10-9. Four kills and a service ace aided in the run. The set remained close up until 19-17, then Barry had back to back kills from Valeriya Kozlova to gain a larger lead. Ivana Žujovic closed it outs with a power kill to take set one. She had four in the set. | Barry 25, SCSU 19
- Set Two - It was a much different outcome in set two, the Huskies came out to avenge the first set drop with a 5-0 start. Three more big runs would be enough to keep the gap open and tie the match up at one-all. SCSU hit .423 with 15 kills in the set. It wass the first set that the Bucs had dropped all year. | SCSU 25, Barry 16
- Set Three - The momentum stayed with the Huskies as they had a 5-1 opening. Barry cut into the deficit taking advantage of three straight errors from SCSU to make it a two point game. After being down 21-16 the Buccaneers closed out the set in a remarkable fashion going on a 9-2 run to take the second set and stump the Huskies. Kozlova kicked it into high gear in her rotation in service, collecting two service aces and a kill. Veronika Eremeeva and Zujovic each had kills as well to close it out. | Barry 25, SCSU 23
- Set Four - For the first time all day, the Bucs scored first as the hot hitting Zujovic put away the first kill. The brick wall of Ester Pushkarov and Eremeeva earned the second point. A 7-1 run had Barry double up their lead at 12-6. SCSU came back and made it a one point set and fought back and forth. An error and service ace from Eremeeva closed the match and shut down the comeback. | Barry 25, SCSU 22
NOTEWORTHY:
- Veronika Eremeeva hit a new season-high with 17 kills, she has recorded double-digits and led the team in every match thus far.
- Petra Brkicic had the first double-double of the season with 14 assists and 13 digs, leading the team on the backrow.
- Thalia Iglesias led the setters with 21 assists.
- Ivana Žujovic tied her career high in kills with nine in the match on 11 attempts for a .727 swing percentage.
- Ester Pushkarov led the block party with eight, for a new career-high.
- Freshmen, Valeriya Kozlova had a career night with nine kills swinging .474 on 19 attempts, and added four aces and three digs.
- Sofya Sinkova had eight kills for her career-high with three blocks.
- Gaia Riedmüller almost had a double-double with seven assists and nine digs.
- Statistically, the Bucs trailed in all categories except, blocks (10-5).
- It is the third 40-kill performance by the team this season and first four set match.

The Buccaneers will return to the Sunshine State and head up to Daytona Beach to play in the Bahama House Classic hosted by Embry-Riddle. First match is against Seton Hill on Friday, September 19 with a 3:30pm start time.
