NORMAN, Okla. – Two Barry Buccaneers are among the 207 NCAA Division II student athletes that were recognized on the Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars list.
Giorgio Celani and Ethan Gough were recognized as All-America Scholars this year, they are the 14th and 15th Barry golfers to achieve the feat on the men's side. Both are first time honorees. It is the eighth straight season that the Buccaneer Men's Golf squad has placed at least one member on the Scholar All-American list.
To be named a Scholar All-American student-athletes need to meet a high standard of academic and athletic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:
- A golfer that's academically and athletically a sophomore, junior, or senior.
- Cumulative career grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher.
- Must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds
- Have a stroke average under 78.0 in Division II.
- A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
Celani was ranked no. 60 in the region and had a stroke average of 73.4 in 27 rounds played. His best finish came at the Saint leo Invitational in February 2025 as he finished 15th out of 99 golfers, shooting one-under.
Gough was ranked no. 46 in the region with a 73.2 stroke average in 27 rounds. Gough won the Shark Invitational in October 2024, shooting a career-best eight-under. The senior had another top-5 finish placing fourth out of 88 golfers in the 2025 Southeastern Collegiate in March 2025.
