TAMPA, Fla. – The 2025 season comes to an end for the Barry Softball team in the NCAA South 1 Regional Championship. The Buccaneers fall after forcing a winner take all game against host and top-seeded Tampa 4-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game One):
- B8 | In an extra inning thriller, Barry prevailed on a walk-off to win the game. Becka Mellor dropped aa bunt single to get herself aboard to try to make something happen. Sarah Langlie then hit a hard ground ball and forced a defensive error that quickly had two on. With two away, Sofia Chamorro stepped up to the plate to try and extend the season by another game. She did just that with a base hit up the middle to score Mellor from second base. | Barry 1, Tampa 0
NOTEWORTHY (Game One):
- Barry outhit Tampa 7-3 in the contest.
- Chamorro, the walk-off hero, went 3-for-4 in the game with the game winning RBI.
- Chandler Barry, Mya Tucker, Becka Mellor, and Sarah Langlie all recorded a hit.
- Alexis Martin picked up her 11th win, throwing 6.1 scoreless innings giving up just two hits and punched out two. She had five free passes, four via a walk and one hit by pitch.
- Isabel Vera Martinez came in and kept the door closed for 1.2 innings striking out one and giving up just one hit.
- It is the first time since 2008 the Bucs win three games at the regional.
- The 38 wins is the most in the Sean Cotter era and most since 2012.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game Two):
- T2 | In the top of the second with one away, a lightning delay came into effect that delayed the game an hour.
- B3 | Tampa put two runners in scoring position with a one-out double to left center. A sacrifice fly brought in the runner on third and gave the Spartans their first run of the day. | Tampa 1, Barry 0
- B5 | The Spartans capitalized on a two-out error that extended the inning, placing the runner on second. The next batter was intentionally walked. It was followed by a three-run home run that would tilt the scale and put the game away. | Tampa 4, Barry 0
NOTEWORTHY (NSU):
- Barry finishes 23-13 over Sunshine State opponents on the year.
- Samantha Rosenberger collected the only two strikeouts.
- All four pitchers saw time in the circle combining for six hits and one earned run.
- Harper Bunn, Mac Stone-Folmar, and Mya Tucker each tallied a hit.
- Paige White led the offense with the lone multi-hit game.
- Barry finishes 8-8 overall against ranked opponents.
ON THE HORIZON
This concludes an incredible run for the Barry Buccaneers who reached heights that had not been attained in over a decade. We thank our seniors for all they have put into the program over the years to get to this point.
