Men’s Tennis Begins Playoffs With A Win!

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. --  The third-ranked Barry Buccaneers stormed into the championship match at the Sunshine State Conference Tournament with a 4-1 win over 22nd-ranked Embry-Riddle at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Barry claimed the early doubles point with convincing wins on Courts #2 and #1. Gabriele Felline and Tim Riedel, ranked 40th, dominated Mason Cisco and Enrico Rosellini 6-1 on Court #2, while 39th-ranked Leo Caill and Adam Lynch secured a 6-4 win on Court #1 over Joshua Nuyts and Michele Iftimie to clinch the doubles point. Embry-Riddle picked up a victory on Court #3, but Barry's early control ensured the 1-0 team lead heading into singles play.
  • Adam Lynch quickly added another point for the Buccaneers with a 6-1, 6-0 sweep over Cisco on Court #5.
  • Ariel Meshulam followed shortly after on Court #6, winning comfortably 6-2, 6-2 against Enrique Amaya to push the Barry advantage to 3-0.
  • Embry-Riddle got on the board with a straight-set win by Rosellini over #68 Felline, 6-1, 6-4 on Court #2.
  • Tim Riedel clinched the match for Barry, fighting through a tough second set to close out Alavaro Diaz Rodrigo 6-2, 6-4 on Court #4.
  • The remaining matches went unfinished.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs will play Florida Southern, 4-3 winners over second seed 10th-ranked Saint Leo in the SSC Tournament championship match at 9:00 am on Sunday.
