MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers knocked off the Florida Tech Panthers 8-2 in the opener of the Sunshine State Conference baseball series at Feinbloom Field on Friday night.

- B7 - The Bucs responded with three runs, without a hit, in the bottom of the inning. Jimmy Bruno was hit by a pitch and stole second. Vargas Seguera walked, and after a pitching change, Turner walked to load the bases. Bruno scored on a ground ball by Diaz and Vargas Seguera came home when the throw from Wiggins sailed wide. NOTEWORTHY:
- Eich tied for the team lead with his fourth win of the season. He allowed two runs (one earned) on just two hits and four walks and struck out five.
- Pino, who had to leave the game with an injury after pitching to Diaz in the first, took the loss for the Panthers. In a third of an inning, he gave up three runs on two hits with a hit batsman.
- Turner led the Bucs with three hits, one more than the Panthers mustered, and scored twice.
- Bruno also scored twice, while Vargas Seguera had three runs. Diaz drove in three.
