Bucs' Offense Explodes In Baseball Win Over PBA

Barry scores season-high 16 runs against the Sailfish

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers exploded for a season-high in runs to beat the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish 16-3 in a non-conference baseball matchup at Feinbloom Field on Tuesday night.

  • B1 - For the second game in a row, Kendry Noriega gave the Bucs an early lead with a two-run homer, his sixth of the season, in the first inning. | Barry 2, PBA 0
  • T2 - Finley Holmes tripled to right center with one out and scored on an error. | Barry 2, PBA 1
  • B2 - Harry Vargas Seguera got the run back for the Bucs and then some, belting his fourth homer of the year, a three-run shot, in the bottom of the inning. | Barry 5, PBA 1
  • B3 - After relying on the big fly in the first two innings, Barry strung together five hits to score three runs in the third. Felix Diaz singled and Murchael Turner blooped a double down the left field line. Zak Rice drove in both runners with a single to right center.   • T5 - The 'Fish scored twice off Barry starter Sean Driscoll (2-1) in the fifth. Raymond Hawkins singled and scored on a sacrifice fly. Aaron Vetter, who was hit by pitch, scored on a single by Patrick Rakes. | Barry 8, PBA 3
  • B6 - The wheels came off for the Sailfish as they went to the bullpen in the sixth inning. The Bucs sent 13 men to the plate and scored eight runs on four hits. Two PBA reliever combined to walk four, hit two and throw four wild pitches in the frame. Lee-Anthony Santiago had a two-run single, as did Noriega. NOTEWORTHY:

  • Driscoll matched his season-high with five innings and walked none to pick up his second win.
  • Elijah Budiac (0-3) gave up eight runs on 11 hits in three innings to take the loss for the Sailfish.
  • Barry out-hit the 'Fish 16-8, but led 11-1 in free passes. Both staffs hit two batters.
  • Vargas Seguera and Noriega each drove in four runs to pace the office.
  • Vargas Seguera and Diaz each had three hits, while Noriega, Turner, and Ramirez each had two.
  • Rakes and Ben Green each had two hits for the Sailfish.
