MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--  The third-ranked Barry Buccaneers continued their regular season stretch with another victory against the 23rd-ranked Wayne State Warriors on Sunday morning at the Buccaneer Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Buccaneers secured victories in Doubles #2 and #3, after dropping their first Doubles #1 match that ended in a win for the Warriors and their #4 ranked duo of Anais Ruyssen and Dea Gorgidze.
  • Maria Tatarnikova started the day with a quick finish, sweeping her opponent and securing a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
  • #43 Viktoriia Dema squared off against #20 Anais Ruyssen and handily bested her in a 6-3, 6-0 victory for the Bucs.
  • Ailen Crespo finished her match in a dominant fashion, taking down her opponent, Shantala Uzcategui, in a 6-1,6-2 win.
  • #18 Angela Leweurs closed out her match with Justine Beaulieu in 6-4 straight-set sweeps.
  • #2 Alina Michalitsch fought hard in a tight battle against #57 Malak Arafat, Michalitsch fell in the first set 4-6, but stormed back to take victory in the second set 6-2, before bringing it home and ending the day with a roaring applause after her 10-5 victory in the third and final set.
  • Singles Match #3 went unfinished.

ON THE HORIZON

The Bucs are heading to Orlando to face off against Mississippi College on March 13, the match begins at 3:30 pm at the UTSA Training Center.
