Barry Sweeps the Doubleheader Against the Bobcats

Bucs Sweep Doubleheader Against Bobcats with Walk-Off Win and Strong 7-2 Victory at Feinbloom Field.

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.  -- The Bucs swept their doubleheader against the Bobcats at Feinbloom Field on Wednesday. They took game one with a hard-fought 4-3 victory and followed it up with a commanding 7-2 win in game two to complete the sweep.

SUMMARY:

  • T4: The Bobcats started off the scoring in the fourth after a throwing error. | Barry 0, STU 1
  • B5: Jonathan Rivera led off the fifth with a walk and later came around to score on an Anthony Vizzini single to right-center. | Barry 1, STU 1
  • B6: Aggressive baserunning and defensive miscues helped add key runs. Michael Escobar stole third and scored on Dylan Rose's sac fly, while Hector Vilorio came home on a pair of errors to cap the inning. | Barry 3, STU 1

  • B1: The Barry team put together a big inning with smart baserunning and timely hitting. Ben Rhode singled and stole second before advancing on a wild pitch. After Michael Escobar walked and moved up on another wild pitch, Hector Vilorio came through with a clutch two-run single to right-center, scoring Rhode and Escobar. David Herrera followed with an RBI single up the middle to bring Shawn Flynn home. Vilorio then stole third and later scored on Carlos Camacho's sacrifice fly to right, capping off the productive frame.  | Barry 4, STU 0

  • B4: Juan Correa singled to third, and Escobar reached on a fielding error, advancing Correa to third. Escobar stole second, and Vilorio walked, driving in Correa. A wild pitch allowed Vilorio and Collins to advance, and Escobar scored on another wild pitch.| Barry 7, STU 2

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Paul Gutierrez earned the win, improving to (1-0) on the season. he threw three innings, four hits and two runs (unearned). he had two strikeouts.
  • Frank Vila took the loss, dropping to 0-1, in 0.2 innings, giving up two hits and allowing one run.
  • Brenden Hayes earned the win, securing his record to (2-1) pitching four innings, allowing two hits, and three walks, only allowing two runs (unearned). With five strikeouts.
  • John Luechauer took the loss (0-1), giving up five runs in two innings. With three hits and three walks.
  • Ben Rhode went 4-6 in the doubleheader and 
  • Vizzini had four RBI's in the doubleheader and one double.
