Super Softball Walkoff Sunday; Barry Takes Two Over #19 Wingate

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. After 21 innings of softball was played on Sunday from Buccaneer Field, the Barry Bucs came out on top with with a pair of wins over #19 Wingate. The first game ran 10 innings before the 1-1 stalemate ended, while game two took 11 innings and was an offensive explosion.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game One)
  • B1 | As the new leadoff, Mya Tucker delivered with a bunt single to get herself on first. A catcher's interference and walk drawn by Sarah Langlie set the bases loaded with no outs. Caroline Figueroa delivered the RBI that got Barry on the board. | Barry 1, Wingate 0
  • T6 | The Bulldogs notched the game at one with a solo shot to left center. | Barry 1, Wingate 1
  • B10 | it was a stalemate for four innings until the international tie breaker was put in place for the 10th inning. Tucker was placed on second, moved over by a sacrifice bunt from Shelby Prevatte, and finally brought home by a sac fly from Langlie to walk it off. | Barry 2, Wingate 1
NOTEWORTHY (Game One)
  • The freshman duo of Tucker and Langlie continue to get it done. Tucker scored both of the runs.
  • Samantha Rosenberger got the start going retiring seven straight. She finished throwing six innings, allowing just five hits, one earned run, and no free passes.
  • Haelee Angelico came into relief and shut down the Bulldogs going three innings without allowing a hit.
  • Isabel Vera had the last outing in the circle, earning the win, facing four batters, walking just one.
  • Tucker and Brooklyn Rushton both collected multi-hit games. It was Rushton's third of the season.
  • The Warriors had five hits to the Bucs seven.
  • Barry stranded five runners to ESU's 10.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game Two)
  • B1 | Langlie drew a two out walk and then was followed by a two run shot to center from Figueroa. | Barry 2, Wingate 0
  • T2 | Wingate got their first lead of the game with a five run inning on six hits. | Barry 2, Wingate 5
  • B2 | Barry scratched for a run in the bottom half with Rebecka Mellor hitting a sac fly to score Mac Stone-Folmar with the bases loaded. | Barry 3, Wingate 5
  • T3 | An error by the Buccaneer second baseman extended the inning and tacked onto the Bulldogs lead. | Barry 3, Wingate 6
  • B3 | Stone-Folmar came through with a two-run double down the left field line to score Langlie and Figueroa who reached earlier in the inning. This brought the game within two.  | Barry 5, Wingate 6
  • B5 | The Bucs regained the lead in the bottom half of the fifth scoring two runs off three hits. Langlie and Figueroa once again led off the inning reaching base. Langlie doubled through the left side and Figueroa drew the walk. Brooklyn Rushton came through and picked up an infield single that scored one. Stone-Folmar delivered for the second time successfully dropping down the squeeze bunt that scored Mia Lucey who came in to pinch run. | Barry 7, Wingate 6
  • T7 | A bases loaded sacrifice fly then scored the tying run to once again force extra innings. | Barry 7, Wingate 7
  • T11 | With the international tiebreaker put in place, a sacrifice bunt, followed by a sacrifice fly brought in the go-ahead run for the Bulldogs. | Barry 7, Wingate 8
  • B11 | With the Bucs being down to their last strike and two runners in scoring position, Brooklyn Rushton came to the rescue with a perfectly placed fly ball to score Tucker and Langlie who were in motion on the pitch. | Barry 9, Wingate 8
NOTEWORTHY (Game Two)
  • Senior, Stone-Folmar had a game going 4-for-4, with three RBI, a run scored, and drew a walk. It was the first four-hit game of the year for Buccaneer.
  • Langlie was right behind going 3-for-5 with four runs scored and she drew a walk as well. It was her second career three-hit game.
  • Tucker extended her hit streak to seven.
  • Six starters recorded a hit.
  • There was 25 hits total, 13 of which came of Bucs' bats.
  • Alexis Martin got the start and then was pulled in the top of the fourth. She later returned in the ninth and then threw three innings allowing just one hit.
  • Angelico and Vera both threw in the contest and combined for five innings, allowing just three hits and one earned run. 
ON THE HORIZON
Barry will get right back to it tomorrow against no. 16 East Stroudsburg.
