Men's Basketball Loses At Florida Tech

MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Barry fell 89-80 to the Florida Tech Panthers in Sunshine State Conference men's basketball action on Saturday in the Clemente Center.

SUMMARY:

  • 1H - The teams traded baskets early, with Max Polk giving the home team an 11-8 lead after a three-pointer with 15:48 left. Barry responded with a 12-0 led by five points from Gabe Hernandez, including a fast-break dunk, to take a 20-11 lead with 11:07 to play. But then it was the Panthers turn to go on a roll, scoring 15 straight to go up 26-20 on a free throw from Can Kaan Turgut. The Bucs tied the game 32-32 on a pair of free throws from Jimel Lane with 2:54 left before half.   • 2H - The Panthers stormed out of the gate in the second half, quickly building a double-digit lead, 47-37. Barry chipped back to cut the lead to three, 51-48 ona free throw by Akeem Crandon with 13:11 to play. Leading 64-60 with 6:53 to play, the Panthers went on a 16-1 run to put the game away. NOTEWORTHY:

  • Hernandez led the Bucs with 17 points as four players scored in double figures for Barry.
  • Michael Bradley added 15, Lane had 12 and Reinhardt chipped in 10 off the bench.
  • Donovan Brown led four Panthers in double figures with 28 and Polk knocked down 25.
  • Isaiah Edden had 14 and Ben Csernak had 10.
  • The Panthers out-shot the Bucs 15-3 from three-point range, hitting 15-of-25 from beyond the arc, while Barry was just 3-for-23.
  • Barry led 52-20 in the paint.

ON THE HORIZON:
Barry returns home to host the 18th-ranked Florida Southern Moccasins on Cesar Odio Court on Saturday, Feb. 15.
