PROVO, Utah — The Barry Men's Volleyball team took a trip to the Fieldhouse in their first match against a ranked NCAA Division I opponent. Stepping into a pit of 3,529 fans, the Buccaneers stepped up for the challenge and took a set from sixth-ranked Bringham Young University (BYU).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Set One - Barry's first point came off a kill from Philip Tein. William Phinizy and Tein then gave the Bucs a 4-2 lead. The last lead held at 6-5, until BYU gathered four straight points off Barry errors. This gave them the lead they would hold the rest of the set. The Bucs had 10 kills to BYU's 11. | BYU 25, Barry 14
- Set Two - It was a similar start to set two with the scoring. A block from Tristan Blake and Elias Fuhrer tied things up at six-all. That was the last tie as the Cougars took nine of the next 12 point. It was Barry's most efficient offensive set hitting .217 with just four errors. | BYU 25, Barry 16
- Set Three - In the surprise of the night, the Buccaneers took set three over the ranked Cougars. The block party ensued with three straight for points four, five, and six to take a 6-3 lead. Fuhrer was a part of all three. After falling behind 11-13, Barry went on a 4-0 run to regain the lead at 15-13. They worked their way baack to a 17-17 and from there scored nine of the last 11 points to close out the se win. | Barry 25, BYU 19
- Set Four - Tein once again collected a kill to give the Bucs their first point in the set. Barry led 3-1 early. The Bucs were unable to get a run going, scoring bak-to-back just once in the set. | BYU 25, Barry 13
NOTEWORTHY:
- William Phinizy had double-digit kills for the second time in his career, with 13.
- It was Philip Tein's seventh match with 10+ kills, tied for most on the team.
- Tristan Blake had his four 30+ assist match of the year.
- Elias Fuhrer led the defense with eight blocks. Bobby Clapp and Fuhrer had eight digs each.
- Barry led in blocks 10-8 and assists 37-35.
