Women's Basketball Triples Up Florida Southern

Bucs hit the century mark for the first time in 2025

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers defeated the Florida Southern Mocs 102-75 in Sunshine State Conference women's basketball action in the Health & Sports Center on Saturday.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - Emma Wallhoff got the scoring started for the Buccaneers, knocking down back-to-back three-pointers to open the game. The quarter was back and forth early, with the Bucs trailing 12-11 with just under six minutes remaining. They then went on a 13-2 run to open up a 24-14 lead. As a team, the Bucs shot 60 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from beyond the arc in the quarter. Wallhoff led the team with six points, while Kaliyah Morales, Zaaliyah Kailahi-Fulu, Hailey Chiles, and Colleen Bucknor all scored four. | Barry 28, Florida Southern 19
  • 2Q - Chiles started the scoring in the second to extend Barry's lead to 11. After the Mocs went on a small run to cut the lead to seven, the Bucs went on a 5-0 spurt to open up a 12-point lead and force a Mocs' timeout. The Mocs scored the first basket after the timeout, but the Bucs went on a massive run, scoring 17 consecutive to extend their lead to 26 with just over two minutes remaining in the half. As a team, the Bucs shot 65.5 percent from the field in the first half, and they went 6-for-9 from beyond the three-point line. They were also excellent from the free throw line, knocking down 13 of their 15 attempts. Defensively, the Bucs recorded 12 steals, with Kayla Lindsey accounting for six of them.   • 3Q - The Bucs scored the first basket of the second half to extend their lead to 28 before the Mocs went on a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to 21. Audrey Jennings stopped the run by scoring five consecutive points for the Bucs to protect their commanding lead. The Mocs briefly got the lead under 20, but Jennings knocked down a three to put the Bucs back up 22.   • 4Q - Wallhoff came out on fire in the fourth, knocking down three triples in the first three minutes of the quarter. After the Mocs cut the deficit to 17, the Bucs went on an 11-0 run to build a 28-point lead and put the game away for good. NOTEWORTHY:

  • Jennings led all scorers with 23 points. She also led the Bucs with seven rebounds.
  • Wallhoff finished the game with 18 points. All of her points came from beyond the arc, as she shot 6-of-8 from deep.
  • Morales finished with 17 points and a team-high six assists.
  • Green was the fourth Buccaneer to score in double figures, as she tallied 12 points.
  • Four Mocs scored in double figures. Catalina Ion led the way with 20, while Anna Denes and Sydney Gomes added 13.
  • As a team, the Bucs shot 63.2 percent from the field and 68.8 percent from three-point range. They were also 19-of-22 from the free throw line.
  • The Bucs also recorded 21 steals, with Lindsey accounting for nine of those thefts. The team total was tied for sixth all-time and Lindsey is tied for eighth.
  • The Bucs held the Mocs to just 39.1 percent from the field.

ON THE HORIZON:
Barry will host the Lynn Fighting Knights on Wednesday, Feb. 19. The Buccaneers defeated the Fighting Knights 79-71 in Boca Raton on Jan. 15.
