OCALA, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers dove into the pool for the first day of individual swims, on the second day of the SSC Championship Meet. The Bucs currently sit in seventh on the women's side with 40 points, while the men are in sixth with 86 points. Four new program records highlight the day for Barry.
The Buccaneers had strong performances in the 200 IM, with Evelin Zbiskó making the A-final and Diana Suprun competing in the B-final. On the men's side, both Milosz Mencel and Balazs Ament placed in the B-final. In the 1000 Free, Matthew McLean led the men, while Kate Rutledge and Kauri Parsons represented Barry in the women's event.Â
Qualifiers
The Buccaneers qualified three athletes with an NCAA Division II B-standard: Zbiskó swam 2:05.13 time in the women's 200 IM on the women's side, while freshman phenom Ament and the senior, Mencel recorded 1:49.60 and 1:49.85 respectively in the 200 IM event.
The time hit by Zbiskó is a new program record for the 200 IM. She beat her best, which was just set at Keiser, by four seconds. Ament set the men's new program record in the same event, dropping five seconds off from his personal best, which was set at the mid-season meet at IRSC. Ainley led the speed in the 50-free hitting a new program record. McLean had the fourth record of the night, dropping 14 seconds off his best time, the previous record, that was hit against NSU earlier this season.
