NOTEWORTHY:
- Neither team had much success in getting runners home as they combined to strand 22, 12 for the Trojans and 10 for the Buccaneers.
- Wike and Bruno both had two hits for the Bucs, with Bruno driving in both runs.
- Jakhari Howard had two hits for the Trojans.
- Benito Valle-Jhanda (1-0) worked four innings in the split game to get the win. He allowed a run on four hits and four walks and struck out one, pitching out of jams in the first and fourth.Â
- Mount Olive loaded the bases with no outs in the first, but could not score.
- Collin McLaughlin walked two in the ninth but got out of the jam by getting clean-up hitter Jon Howard to ground out to earn his first save.
- Gibson gave up two runs on three hits and three walks, while striking out four to take the loss for the Trojans.
- The two runs for the Bucs were the fewest in a win since beating Florida Tech 2-1 in 12 innings on Mar. 7, 2020.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs host the third-ranked Catawba Indians on Sunday. The Indians fell 7-6 to #22 Nova Southeastern on Friday, but beat Lynn 3-0 on Saturday to come into the game 1-1.
