ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The fourth-ranked Barry Women's Volleyball team continues to show resilience with another tough road win this week. The Buccaneers defeated Eckerd in four-sets, with two being pushed to deuce. This is this the first win in St. Petersburg since 2018, as last season Eckerd played off-campus. It is the third straight win against the Tritons.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Set One - McKayla Theleus got her first career start and immediately went to work with a kill for the first Buccaneer point ad 1-0 lead. It was a strong start for Barry who once led 9-3. However, the Tritons slowly creeped back into the set and were able to tie things up at 12-all. The last tie came at 17 and Eckerd took the set from there. Four service errors and four reception errors would be the difference maker in the set. Barry is now 8-3 in first sets. Varvara Osychenko led the way going 6-for-9 on swing attempts. | Eckerd 25, Barry 19
- Set Two - Theleus turned it up a notch in the second set with three straight service aces in her first rotation. Barry led for most of the set, up until the Tritons caught up and tied things at 23-all. Ivana Zujovic closed out the set with a block solo to tie the match up. Five different Bucs recorded a kill on the set, with Valeriya Kozlova leading the way with five on no attacking errors. | Barry 26, Eckerd 24
- Set Three - The back and forth set saw 10 ties and six lead changes. The scoreboard flipped for final time and held from 16-15 onward in favor of Barry. Osycchenko and Zujovic teamed up for the final point on block from the junior duo. Kozlova once again led the offense with seven kills in the set. It was the best offensive sett for the Bucs who hit .394. The defense haad three blocks and Gaia Riedmuller kept rallies allive with six digs in the set. | Barry 25, Eckerd 22
- Set Four - Another flip flop set saw 13 ties and seven lead changes Barry held match point four times and Eckerd once in the final run. It was Petra Brkicic who served up an ace to end the match and keep the Bucs undefeated season alive. Both teams had 17 kills in the set while Eckerd narrowly held the edge at four blocks to Barry's three. Theleus had a huge set with five kills and six digs. | Barry 29, Eckerd 27
NOTEWORTHY:
- Valeriya Kozlova had her fifth straight double-digit kill match, her third 20+ kill match.
- Varvara Osychenko goes back-to-back with 15 kills. She records her 19th career double-double, first of the season with 11 digs.
- McKayla Theleus had her first career double-double in a breakout match that saw 11 kills, 10 digs, and four service aces. All career-highs.
- Gaia Riedmüller led the back row with 14 digs.
- Petra Brkicic led the setters with 21 assists, while Thalia Iglesias was right behind with 19.
- Brkicic was a dig shy of a double-double with nine.
- Ivana Žujovic had a six blocks in the match to lead all players.
- Statistically, the Bucs led in service aces and blocks, falling behind for the first time in kills while winning a match.
