MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry women's soccer team opened Sunshine State Conference play with a 1-0 win over Eckerd at Buccaneer Field on Saturday.

NOTEWORTHY:
- The Tritons out-shot the Bucs 19-11, including 10-6 on goal, but could not get past the stellar defense of keeper Maya Caon, who set a career-high with 10 saves.
- It was the first time that Barry had 10 saves in a game since Maddie Hart-Pomerantz had 10 against St. Thomas on Sept. 22, 2021.
- It was Caon's first clean sheet of the season.
- Talbert took the loss for the Tritons, making five saves and allowing one goal.
- Eckerd also led 13-3 in corner kicks, with all 13 coming in the second half.
- Both teams squandered scoring opportunities. Eckerd's Jillian Doerger was denied by Caon in the 80th minute and Sierra Hudson hit the near post in the 60th minute. For Barry, Anabel Toledo missed a 1v1 chance with Talbert in the 10th minute and Arion Newby was denied by Talbert in the 86th minute.
