HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Bucs quickly took the #2 doubles 6-1, but had to work at #1 after leading 4-1 to win 6-4.
- Barry led after doubles 1-0 for the 20th time this year.
- In singles, Barry won five of the six first sets.
- Angela Leweurs and Dinara Alloirova finished their matches within moments of each other, with Leweurs winning at No. 5 and Alloiarova at No. 4.
- Viktoriia Dema clinched the match 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2, sending the Buccaneers back to the finals.
- The other matches went unfinished.
NOTEWORTHY:
- For Barry, it is their seventh in a row and the 10th time overall to advance to the NCAA final. They have eight championships, including the last six in a row, and two runner-up finishes in 29 tournament appearances.
- The Bucs six straight titles are an NCAA Division II record and they are tied with Armstrong Atlantic's now-defunct program for the most overall at eight.
- Barry improved to 101-21 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, the most wins of any program in NCAA Division II history.
- It was the third straight win over the Mustangs in series history. All have come at the national tournament.
ON THE HORIZON
The Bucs will take the second-ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks for the championship on Friday, May 24 at 1:00 pm. It will be the second straight year that the Bucs and Sharks have faced off for the title.
