Softball Edged At Rollins

WINTER PARK, FLA. - On the heels of a nine-inning shutout win, the Barry University softball team held nationally-ranked Rollins off the scoreboard for the opening four innings of Friday's Sunshine State Conference contest before a four-run fifth inning propelled the host to a 5-1 result.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • B5| Opening the frame with back-to-back hits, Rollins broke the scoreless stalemate off a sacrifice fly before adding two runs on a double and one from a Barry error to create a 4-0 score.
  • T6| Keeping the stanza alive with a two-out double, pinch-running Becka Mellor got Barry on the scoreboard off an Alexis Toledo single.
  • B6| A pair of hits for Rollins sandwiching an out added an insurance run for the host and made it 5-1.

NOTEWORTHY 
  • Mac Stone-Folmar went 2-3
  • Caroline Figueroa went 1-2 with a double.
  • Samantha Rosenberger received the loss after throwing the opening 4.0 innings with three runs allowed off six hits.
  • For Rollins, Degna went 2-3 with two runs scored while Worrell earned the win with one run allowed off three hits over 5.2 innings of work.
  • Barry tallied four hits, Rollins recorded 10.
  • Barry committed one error, resulting in one run scoring.
  • Both sides stranded six runners on base.
