Men's Tennis Defeats #8 Wayne State Second Time This Season

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. --  In a rematch of the 2024 ITA Indoor Team National Championship quarterfinals, the Bucs defeated #8 Wayne State 6-1 for the second time this season at the Buccaneer Tennis Center on Tuesday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Bucs gained a 1-0 advantage after securing the doubles point, winning at No.2 and 3 doubles. 
  • B.Rieme got the first singles point of the match after winning in straight-sets at No.5 singles.
  • Caill put the Bucs up 3-0 after winning in straight-sets at No.6 singles. 
  • Ferreria clinched the match for the Bucs at No. 1 singles. 
  • Drenth got the lone point for Wayne State at No. 2 singles. 
  • Both Riedel and D. Rieme won their matches in a third-set super tie-breaker. 

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Ferreria picked up his second win of the year against a nationally-ranked opponent. 
  • David (6-0) and Bastien (7-0) Rieme remain undefeated in singles on the year. 
  • The Bucs have seven wins against nationally-ranked opponents.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs will travel to St. Petersburg, Fla., to take on Eckerd on Saturday, Mar.16 at the Fred Bullard Courts.
