HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Bobcats got out to an early 1-0 lead after securing the doubles point at doubles No. 1 and 2.
  • The Bucs went down 3-1 early. The Bobcats were able to pick up wins at singles No. 2 and 4. The Bucs got on the board with a win at singles No. 1.
  • The comeback push started after Rivoira got a win at singles No. 6 and then Hayze Loop followed getting a victory at singles No. 3.
  • All eyes turned to court #5 with the score tied 3-3. Simon lost the first set but was able to bounce back in the second set, winning a seventh game tie-breaker 7-4. It all came down to the third set where Simon went down 3 games to none. However, Simon showed willpower as he fought back and won the set 7-5 to give him his first victory as a Buccaneer tennis player and a memorable one at that.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:

"We knew it would be a tough match for the "B" team and so it was," said Coach Thomas Hipp. "We definitely need to improve in doubles but our singles looked strong and we showed great mental toughness. We also looked physically ready to go all the way, which was promising."
