MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The No. 1 ranked Barry Buccaneers women's tennis team defeated the Tampa Spartans 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Buccaneer Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Barry took an early 1-0 lead after securing victories at Doubles No.1 and No. 3. 
  • Dema picked up a point for the Bucs after securing a victory in straight-sets at Singles No. 3, only giving up one game between the two sets. 
  • Tampa made the score 2-1 after Ball secured a vicotry at Singles No. 2. 
  • Both Leweurs and Versier won their matches in straight-sets at Singles No. 5 and No. 4. Veriser at Singles No. 4, secured the match victory for the Bucs. 
  • Haumüller won her match after winning a third-set super tie-breaker 10-2. 
  • Michalitsch finished up play last, securing a three-set vicotry at Singles No. 1. 

NOTEWORTHY

  • Barry has won 38 straight SSC regular season games. 
  • The Bucs have never lost to Tampa. 
  • Leweurs (4-0), and Versier (2-0), both remain undefeated in singles on the year. 
  • Dema is the lone Buc to be undefeated in doubles this season. (4-0). 
  • Verier has now won 19 straight singles matches dating back to last season.
