MIAMI, Fla. -- The Barry Swimming team returned to Miami Shores to play against Oberlin in their final 2024 dual meet. The day favored the Buccaneer Men's team as they were able to cruise towards victory with a final score of 120-66. The Buccaneer Women's team on the other hand had a fierce and competitive performance against the Oberlin Women's team, just narrowly missing out on victory with a final score of 94-92. Both teams played tough but the Bucs were able to perform well in their home return. They will hope to carry this moment into their next match up coming up in the new year and into the spring season.
The women's events featured a mix of standout individual performances and cohesive team efforts, with Barry showcasing dominance in both relay and individual races. The 200 Medley Relay set the tone for the day, as Barry A claimed first place with a time of 1:54.26, earning 11 points, while Barry B followed in second, contributing 4 points to the team total. Diana Suprun emerged as a key contributor, she lead the 50 Free with a first-place finish in 25.34 and secured another victory in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:08.33, earning a combined 18 points. Celina Myers also had a big day, finishing second in both the 200 IM (2:20.76) and the 100 Breast (1:10.15), and adding points in the 100 Fly with a second-place finish. In the freestyle events, Ethena Conzemius delivered consistent results, securing second place in both the 200 Free (2:06.03) and 100 Free (58.66). Kate Rutledge demonstrated her endurance with a victory in the 500 Free (5:40.91) and contributed an additional points in the 200 Free.

The day began with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay, where Barry A claimed first place with a time of 1:33.78, earning 11 points. David Szlobodnyik led the way in the 100 Fly, clinching first place with a time of 51.27, followed closely by Roland Nagy in second (51.82) and Louis Ainley in third (53.13), sweeping the heat and contributing a combined 16 points. Matthew McLean also achieved a season-best time of 56.52 to secure an additional point for the university.
Barry swimmers dominated across the board, with standout performances in the 50 Free by Jacopo Lanzo (1st, 22.14), Milosz Mencel in the 200 Free (1st, 1:47.71), and Balazs Ament in the 200 IM (1st, 1:59.09) and 100 Breast (1st, 57.48). Nagy added another first-place finish in the 100 Back (52.00), solidifying his role as a one of the teams best swimmers. In the freestyle events, Jacopo Lanzo continued his winning streak in the 500 Free (4:52.32), with McLean following closely in second. Mencel claimed another victory in the 100 Free (47.57), showcasing his versatility. The day concluded with Barry securing second and third places in the 200 Free Relay, capping off an impressive team effort.
