LAKELAND, Fla. -- Barry Men's Basketball outlast New Haven to open play at the Mocs Christmas Classic hosted by Florida Southern at the Jenkins Field House. Gabe Hernandez drilled aa mid-range jumper for the game winner with just five seconds remaining.

SUMMARY:
- 1H - Both teams traded the lead back and forth through the first seven minutes of play. Barry waas able to gather a two possession advantage for the next five minutes, before UNH came back and tied it up at 29-all with 7:54 left in the half. The Buccaneers however responded with an 13-3 run to extend it to a healthy lead heading into halftime. Hernandez, Jimel Lane, Akeem Crandon, and Adren Roberts all contributed in the run. - 2H - Michael Bradley III got the party going early kicking off the second half with a transition 3-point basket off a Charger turnover. The Buccaneers held a double-digit lead for the first 12 minutes of the second half. New Haven began to chip away and tied things up at 64 with 3:33 remaining. UNH took a one-point lead with 25-seconds left, as Butch Estes drew up the final play, Hernandez stepped into the clutch to hit the game winning mid-range jumper from the free throw line to seal the game. | New Haven 69, Barry 70
NOTEWORTHY:
- All starters recorded at least 30-minutes of play.
- Four of the five starters recorded double-digit points wih Hernandez leading the way with 19, Lane with 17, and Bradley and Roberts with 11 a piece.
- Crandonn led the boards with 12, while Lane recorded his third double-double with 10 rebounds.
- Jah'Likai King led the Chargers with 18 points.
- Barry won the game in the paint 38-32 and dominated fastbreak points aat 19-4.
- The defense led the way with rebounds 47-33 and steals, 10-5.
