Last Minute Push Not Enough For Women's Basketball

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. --  The Barry Buccaneers Women's Basketball team tried making a last-minute comeback in the fourth quarter, but came up short against Young Harris, ending a three game win streak.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - After Audrey Jennings knocked down a three for the first Buc points, the Mountain Lions took the lead and held it the rest of the way. | Barry 11, YHC 17
  • 2Q - The second period was similiar to the first as Young Harris scored 17 points and Barry scored 10. The Buccaneer defense cut into the Mountain Lions offense as they dropped to shot 39 percent from the field going 7-of-18. | Barry 21, EU 34
  • 3Q - Young Harris took a commanding lead in the third period that would ultimately set the game out of range holding a 20-plus point lead throughout the quarter. Barry had their worst offense quarter, having trouble fending off the Mountain Lions hottest as they shot 60 percent. | Barry 32, YHC 55
  • 4Q - Barry strung together their best basketball going 68.95 percent from the field at 11-of-16. The Bucs outscored YHC 27-14 and ended a game on a 7-2 run to bring it down to a 10-point deficit. | Barry 59, YHC 69

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Jennings had a game-high 18-points. 
  • Aijah Palmore continued to contribute on both ends with eight points, six rebounds, while also tacking on two steals. She went 3-of-3 from the field and 2-of-2 from the line.
  • The Bucs led 15-4 in second-chance points and 16-10 in contributions from the bench.
  • Young Harris had four players in double figures.

ON THE HORIZON:
This closes out the 2024 slate for the Buccaneers, they will return on new year's day at the Health and Sports Center to continue Sunshine State Conference action.
