MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers were selected to the Academic All-District teams this season. Joram Bogers, Martin Gasztos and Juan Simoniello were all recognized for their outstanding work in the classroom.
Bogers, a graduate transfer from Lewis, played in 17 of 18 games, starting 11 times at forward. He scored four goals and added one assist. He converted both of his penalty kick opportunities. Bogers, who graduated from Lewis with a degree in sport management, has a 3.925 GPA as a graduate student at Barry, seeking an MBA in international business.
Gasztos, a sophomore from Pápa, Hungary, appeared in 16 games, starting 14 at defender. In addition to his defensive work, he added two goals, as well as drawing a key foul in the box that resulted in a game-tying penalty kick against Tampa as the Bucs won 3-2. Gasztos carries a 3.582 GPA in international business.
Simoniello, a senior forward from Rosario, Argentina, appeared in 15 games, starting 14 this season. He led the Bucs with five goals and added two assists. He scored the game-winner at Eckerd, and converted the game-tying penalty kick against Tampa. Having already graduated from Barry with a degree in sport management, he carries a 4.0 GPA as a master's student, seeking an MBA degree with an emphasis in marketing.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
The CSC Academic All-District® teams require players to maintain at least a 3.5 GPA as both a undergraduate and graduate student, as well as played in 90 percent of a team's games or starting at least 66 percent.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.
Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced December 10, 2024.
The Division II CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II Academic All-America® programs.
