MIAMI SHORES, Fla. —  For the second time in the last five days, the Buccaneer Volleyball team defeats Florida Tech in straight sets. The Monday Night Volleyball matchup took play from the Health & Sports Center. The defense showed up big, picking up 12.5 blocks in the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Set One - Barry held an early lead and kept it through the set breaking it open to 11-4 with five straight points.The Panthers tried to string together a comeback but fell short. Gaia Riedmuller had a lucky fall on a free ball over the net to gather the set point. Varvara Osychenko led the set with four kills and Ivana Zujovic had three blocks in the set. | Florida Tech 20, Barry 25
• Set Two - The defense continued to show their presence at the net with 5.5 blocks. Service aces helped the cause with perfect timing. The Bucs forced multiple attacking errors from the Panthers by forcing them to continue the rally without getting the ball over the net, forcing attacking errors. Diana Akopova had nine kills in the set hitting .600. | Florida Tech 17, Barry 25
• Set Three - The Bucs dominated from the jump, with the biggest breakaway coming on a 8-0 run forcing the Panthers to take both timeouts in that span. Barry had their best offensive set hitting .387with 13 kills and just one error. | Florida Tech 14, Barry 25

NOTEWORTHY:

• The Bucs had nine service aces in the set, while not getting aced once on the serve receiving end.
• Barry now has seven matches with double-digit blocks, leading the SSC with a 2.66 set average.
• Diana Akopova had a double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs, with three blocks.
• The Bucs are 36-17 in set wins in SSC play this season.
• Barry led in every statistical category except digs.

The Bucs will host two more games this week with a big rivalry game against no. 9 Tampa on Thursday evening and Saturday against Florida Southern.
