Women's Soccer Sinks Sailfish 2-0 At Home

Goals for Garcia and Jaidi, Mayrink posts first shutout

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry women's soccer team sank the visiting Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish 3-0 in Sunshine State Conference play at Buccaneer Field on Wednesday.

SUMMARY:

  • 13:41 - Alexa-Renee Garcia scored her first career goal in the 14th minute. After a free kick for the Bucs, Katelyn Billoch got the ball near the top of the Sailfish box and sent it back to Garcia about 45 yards away. Garcia took a touch in and lofted a long chip shot that squeaked over PBA keeper Sammy Peebles' head.  | Barry 1, PBA 0

NOTEWORTHY:

  • The Sailfish out-shot the Bucs 14-9 and led 7-3 in corners. 
  • Barry keeper Fernanda Mayrink had an outstanding game in her first career start, stopping 10 shots to preserve the clean sheet.
  • Peebles had three saves, but gave up two goals to take the loss.
  • The shutout was the third straight in the series for the Bucs and 14th in 21 games overall.
