Men's Soccer Gives Top-Ranked Lynn Their First Blemish In 1-1 Tie

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry men's soccer team hung the first blemish on #1 ranked Lynn on Wednesday night at Buccaneer Field in Sunshine State Conference action, with a 1-1 tie against the Knights.

SUMMARY:

  • 60:15 - Oier Calvillo and Lucas Silva worked a give-and-go for the game's first goal. Lynn's Henry Heferkorn was signaled for a yellow card about 12 yards outside the box. On the free kick, Silva touched the ball to Calvillo, who gave it right back and Silva bent a shot around the wall and past a diving Luca Clavero at the far post. | Barry 1, Lynn 0
  • 60:30 - But just seconds after the goal, Barry's Martin LaBruna was called for a rough tackle on Lynn's Fabian Vyhnalek. It was his second caution of the game and Barry was forced to play the final 29:30 down a man.
  • 73:11 - The Knights, who had been putting the Buccaneer goal under considerable stress since going up a man, finally made it pay off in the 74th minute. Vyhnalek's shot was defelcted in the box, but went right to Lucas Vila who scored the equalizer on the rebound. | Barry 1, Lynn 1 

NOTEWORTHY:

  • The shot count in the first half was a narrow 4-3 lead for Lynn, 2-1 on goal. However in the second half, with the man advantage, the Knights out-shot Barry 18-1. Overall, they held a 22-4 edge in shots, 10-3 on goal.
  • The also collected nine corners, to just two for the Bucs.
  • Rafael Furlani made nine saves on the Knights' 10 shots on goal, while Clavero had two on three shots By Barry.

The Bucs next play at Saint Leo on Saturday, Oct. 19.
