DAVIE, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers swimming teams opened the 2024-25 season against Nova Southeastern and Florida Atlantic in a tri-meet at the NSU Aquatic Center on Friday evening.
The mens team lost by a score of 191-69 against NSU and 196-64 against FAU.
The women's team lost by a score of 221-35 against NSU and 210-39 against FAU.
The meet consisted of 28 events, 14 on the men's side and 14 on the women's. The events consisted of the 200-medley relay, 1000 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 400 IM, 200 backstroke, 200 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 500 freestyle, 200 IM and lastly the 400 freestyle relay.
HOW IT HAPPENED (MEN):
The first Bucs' relay team of Alexandr Pomozov, Balazs Ament, Elijah Fields and David Szlobodnyik placed 6th in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:37.27.
The second Bucs' relay team of Roland Nagy, Brooks Blackert, Robin Tatar and Chris Paige placed 8th in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:43.18.
Balazs Ament placed first in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 57.43 and 2:05.59, respectively, and earning nine points in each.
HOW IT HAPPENED (WOMEN):
The Bucs swam valiantly, with a relay team of Evelin Zbisko, Chloe Skelt, Celina Myers and Paige Maclean they finished 8th in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:56.45.
The second Bucs relay team consisting of Kate Rutledge, Ava McCarthy, Taryn Will and Kauri Parsons placed 9th in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:00.61.
Kate Rutledge placed 6th in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:09.31.
Evelin Zbisko placed 6th in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:13.18.
NEXT UP:
The Bucs will head to Boca Raton, Fla. in two weeks to take on Lynn in a dual on Oct. 25 at 11:00am.
