LAKELAND, Fla. -- Buccaneer men's tennis players David Rieme, Joao Ferreira, Adam Lynch, Tim Riedel, Leo Caill, Simone Cavalleri all traveled to Lakeland, Fla., to compete in the ITA South Regional Championships at Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
SINGLES:
David Rieme (Barry) fell to Joshua Nuyts (Embry-Riddle) in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 in the round of 64.
Ferreira (Barry) defeated Joe Jarvis in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 11-9 to advance to the round of 32.
In the Round of 32 Ferreira defeated Jonathan Olive-Blanco Lynn 7-6(6), 6-3, to advance to the Round of 16.
Lynch (Barry) defeated Ralph Bartlett (Eckerd) in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the Round of 32 where he defeated Luke Quaynor (Rollins) 6-3, 6-3 to be the second Buc to advance to the Round of 16.
Riedel defeated Roberto Binaghi (PBA) 7-5, 4-6, 11-9 to advance to the round of 32. In the Round of 32 Riedel defeated Alvaro Diaz Rodrigo (Embry-Riddle) 6-3, 6-0 to be the third Buc to advance to the Round of 16.
DOUBLES:
The doubles team of Leo Calil/Simone Cavalleri (Barry) defeated Mario Kirkov/Batu Ataseven (Eckerd) 8-6 in the Round of 32, advancing to the Round of 16.
Rieme/Ferreira (Barry) defeated Luca Hoffmann/Chris Albert (Delta State) 8-0 to advance to the Round of 16.
