DENTON, TX. -- The Barry Buccaneers women's golf team finished finished their first tournament of the year at the DBU Classic, finishing third among 16 teams. The Bucs were +4 (293-285-290--868).
Barry was able to move two spots up in the leader board in round three to secure a top-three finish. The Bucs scored +2 on day three, which was the second best showing of the day among all teams.
Nina Klug led the way for the Bucs, finishing tied for second place.
BUCCANEER HIGHLIGHTS:
Nina Klug (-6) (72-65-73--210) T-2nd Place
- Recorded a tournament low round of -7 (65) in the second round, which set a Barry record for lowest round of any women golfer.
- Even on par-3 holes.
- Led all golfers in par-4 scoring at -3.
- Carded -3 on par-5 holes, which was second on team.
- Totaled 35 pars, 11 birdies and one eagle.
Daniela Ballesteros (-1) (69-75-71--215) T-10th Place
- One of two Bucs to finish under par.
- Led team in par-5 scoring at -7, tied for second among entire field.
- Totaled 28 pars.
- Recorded 14 birdies, which led the Bucs and placed her tied for second among entire field.
- One of 19 golfers to record an eagle.
Giuliana Gomez (+6) (76-75-71--222) T-29th Place
- Second among all golfers in par-3 scoring (-3).
- Led Bucs in pars (36) and recorded eight birdies.
- 33 pars and six birdies.
Tereza Zavrelova (+12) (77-70-81--228) T-51st Place
- Totaled 33 pars and six birdies.
Sydney Grimes (+12) (76-77-75--228) T51st Place
- -1 on par-5 holes.
- Totaled 33 pars and five birdies.
