Men's Tennis Names 4 Bucs To The 2022-2023 Academic All-America Team

Alessandro Giuliato, Alejandro Gallego, Alejandro Palacios and Arnau Rodriguez were all named

AUSTIN, Texas -- Four Buccaneer seniors were named to the 2022-2023 Academic All-America teams after completing their 2023 season with their fourth-straight National Championship. 

Alessandro Giuliato was the lone Buc that earned first team honors. Both Alejandro Ibañez Gallego and Alejandro Palacios earned second team, while Arnau Rodriguez was placed on the third team. 

Giuliato compiled a 3.64 GPA while pursuing his MBA and was named to the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor. He helped lead the Bucs to a SSC Championship, South Region Championship and a NCAA National Championship in his final year with the Bucs, making him a three-time National Champion. Giuliato ended his career with a record of 44-8 in singles and a record of 51-8 in doubles. He ended the season ranked 42nd in singles. 

Ibañez Gallego was the lone repeat selection on the on the Division II Academic All-America team, as he was named to the third team in 2021-22. He earned a 3.62 GPA while pursuing his MBA and was placed on the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll. He helped lead the Bucs to a SSC Championship, South Region Championship and NCAA National Championship on the 2023 season, making him and teammate Palacios the only two Bucs to win four National Championships in any sport at Barry. He finished his career 42-14 in singles and 42-22 in doubles. Gallego finished the season ranked 19th in singles and ranked 10th in doubles with partner Rodriguez. 

Palacios earned a 3.64 GPA while pursuing his MBA and was named to the Sunshine State Commissioner's Honor Roll. He helped lead the Bucs to another National Championship in the 2023 campaign, clinching the match point in the National Championship against #4 Columbus State. In his career, he won four National Championships, making him and Ibañez Gallego the only two Buccaneer athletes to ever win four National Championships. He finished his career with a 52-11 record in singles and a 35-12 record in doubles. Palacios ended the 2023 campaign ranked 21st in singles. 

Rodriguez earned a 3.87 GPA in Management and was placed on the Sunshine Commissioner's Honor Roll. He helped the Bucs to a SSC Championship by clinching the match point, including helping the Bucs to their fourth-straight national title in 2023. In his career, he captured three national titles and finished with a career record of 33-14 in singles and 30-17 in doubles. Rodriguez finished the 2023 season ranked 10th in doubles with partner Ibañez Gallego.
