Junior Bucs Sweep Baseball Doubleheader From Seahawks

Bucs pitchers allowing one unearned run in twinbill

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The junior varsity Bucs got a couple of great pitching performances in sweeping the Keiser Seahawks 1-0 and 4-1 on Monday at Feinbloom Field. Barry pitchers allowed one unearned run on five hits and nine walks, while striking out 20.

SUMMARY:
GAME 1:

  • B2 - The Bucs brought in the only run of the game in the second inning. Alex Czarnomski singled to right center to lead off and later scored on a base hit by CJ Bussell. | Barry 1, Keiser 0

GAME 2:

  • B2: Brodie Jellum got the Bucs on the board in the second with a lead off homer. It was the first of his career and the first of the season for the JV Bucs. | Barry 1, Keiser 0
  • B3: Hector Vilorio walked to lead off the inning and scored on a ground out by Jellum. | Barry 2, Keiser 0
  • B6: Luis Moralles singled to drive in Akira Nakamura and Moralles later scored on a Seahawk error. | Barry 4, Keiser 0
  • T7: Brayden Green was hit by a pitch to force in EJ Bahamonde with an unearned run for the Seahawks. | Barry 4, Keiser 1

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Billy Eich (3-0) picked up the win in the split game opener. He worked three innings, allowing a hit and four walks and struck out five.
  • Douglas Schapley worked a perfect seventh, striking out two, to earn his second save.
  • Grant Paprella (1-1) took the loss for Keiser in the opener, allowing just an unearned run on five hits and striking out five.
  • In game two, Daniel Lipka (1-0) worked four shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk and striking out seven.
  • Carson Mullen (0-1) went three innings, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk to take the loss.
  • Bussell had three hits for the Bucs, including a triple and a double. Jellum had a homer and two RBI.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs host Premier Prospects on Wednesday, Mar. 1 in a double header starting at 1:30 pm.
