MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers split a Sunshine State Conference baseball doubleheader with the Saint Leo Lions on Saturday at Feinbloom Field, winning the series two games to one.

NOTEWORTHY:
- Frank II Gonzalez (1-0) picked his first win since 2021 with five strong innings. He allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks and struck out four.
- Derek Cabrera got the final four outs for his second save.
- Andrew Hazell (0-2) took the loss for the Lions. He gave up five runs on four hits and three walks in 1.2 innings.
- Nick Jennings (2-0) work the final three scoreless innings to earn the win for the Lions in the nightcap.
- Nick Vanderhoef (0-1) was tagged with the loss for the Bucs.
- Wickeri went 4-for-8 in the twinbill with two doubles, two runs and two RBI.
- Sanchez also had four hits, including his second homer of the season.
