Anderson's Career-Outing Not Enough For Men's Basketball At Eckerd

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla - Despite a career-outing for Nick Anderson on Sunday evening, establishing new personal bests in scoring and rebounding, the Barry University men's basketball team dropped an 80-79 decision at Eckerd.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • 1H | Barry jumped out to an early lead off a triple to start the game, pushing their lead up to six at 9-3 before a 7-0 Eckerd run made it 10-9 with 15:16 left in the half. The two sides traded the lead four times over the ensuing five minutes, with back-to-back Eckerd three pointers pushing them ahead 27-23 with 10:12 remaining in the half. The Tritons extended their lead to double-digits at 47-37 with 1:38 left to play in the half, and went into halftime leading 50-42.
  • 2H | Eckerd responded to a Barry jumper to start the second half with four-straight points to recreate their double-digit advantage, maintaining the separation at 59-49 before a 14-3 Barry rallied propelled them to a 63-62 advantage with 9:44 left to play. The host reclaimed the lead off a triple, holding onto it until a late 7-0 Buccaneers' run made it 79-78 in favor of Barry with 1:46 left to play. Eckerd connected on a pair of free throws to flip the one-point advantage.
