TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Division II ITA Collegiate Tennis National Singles and Doubles Rankings as well as the Regional Singles and Doubles Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point for November 15, 2023, have been released, which included men's tennis Adam Lynch being ranked third in the nation in singles after a spectacular fall season. Joao Ferreira (11th), Tim Riedel (14th) and the doubles team of Ferreira/David Rieme (10th) were ranked regionally.
The National Rankings include the Top 50 Men's and Women's Singles Rankings and the Top 25 Men's and Women's Doubles Rankings. The Regional Rankings include the Top 20 singles players and Top 10 doubles teams from each region.
Lynch started the Fall season strong, winning the ITA South Regional Tournament, which included a field of 64 players from the South Region. Lynch defeated fifth-seeded Luke Quaynor of Rollins in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 in the round of 32. He then went on to beat George Russell of Florida Southern in the Round of 16, advancing to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Lynch knocked off ninth-seeded Fernando Alonso of Embry-Riddle. Alonso is ranked 31st nationally in singles in the latest ITA rankings. Lynch then went on to defeat Sebastian Sotelo of West Florida who is ranked 17th nationally in singles. To secure the ITA South Regional singles Championship, Lynch defeated fifth-seeded and nationally-ranked fourth, Takeshi Taco of Valdosta State.
Lynch continued onto the ITA Cup, keeping his winning streak alive with a major upset, defeating one-seeded and 2023 All-American Phil Exner of Ouachita Baptist 6-3, 6-3. Exner is ranked 13th nationally in the latest rankings. Riding off major momentum, Lynch defeated sixth-ranked Jorge Perez of Charleston in the quarterfinals. Lynch's run came to an end in the semi-finals, falling to third-seeded and second-nationally ranked Tom Zeuch of UIndy.
Overall Lynch, defeated five nationally ranked opponents in the Fall, which ultimately earned him his top-three ranking.
