Men's Soccer Gets Back In The Win Column Over Lions

Bucs improve to 5-0-0 in conference

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers raced past the Saint Leo Lions 4-1 in Sunshine State Conference men's soccer action at Buccaneer Field on Saturday night.

  • 18:32 - The Bucs struck first in the 19th minute. David Polanco poached a rebound off a shot by Oier Calvillo to put the Bucs on top. | Barry 1, SLU 0

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Barry improved to 5-0-0 and 15 points in the Sunshine State Conference. The Bucs won the regular season title a year ago with a 6-1-3 record and 21 points.
  • Rafael Furlani had three saves to pick up his fifth win of the season.
  • Ricardo Seballos stopped 10 shots for the Lions, including a pair of beauties off the feet of Juan Pablo Correa and Calvillo, but conceded four goals to take the loss.
  • Barry out-shot the Lions 26-6, including 14-4 on goal.
  • Barry won 12 corner kicks to none for the Lions.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs host the 14th-ranked Florida Tech Panthers on Wednesday, Oct. 11 in a key Sunshine State Conference matchup. Last season, the Bucs won the regular season title, while the Panthers took the tournament championship.
