Women's Soccer Knocks Off Mocs On Senior Night

Tessa Evans had a goal and an assist in the win

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers knocked off the Florida Southern Moccasins 2-1 on Senior Night in Sunshine State Conference women's soccer action Saturday night at Buccaneer Field.

SUMMARY:

  • 1:10 - In just the second minute of the game, Barry won a free kick about 30 yards out after a foul by the Mocs Jordan King. Honora Kahwach sent her service into the box, finding the head of Katelyn Billoch, who flicked it over to Tessa Evans, who was unmarked at eight yards out. Evans calmly slotted the ball past keeper Jenny Staten to the near post. | Barry 1, FSC 0
  • 21:44 - The Mocs evened the game in the 22nd minute. After they won a free kick from about 40 yards out, Staten came up to the take it and lofted a perfect service into the box where Meghan Kriney got her head on it to chip it over Barry keeper Emily Parrott. | Barry 1, FSC 1
  • 80:10 - Barry got the game winner in the 81st minute. After a throw-in, Mia Applegate found Evans open and Evans sent in a cross from the right side. Alia Jaidi ran on and sent her first touch off the right post and into the back of the net. | Barry 2, FSC 1

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Barry led 11-10 in shots, including 5-4 on goal. 
  • The Mocs had five corner to none for Barry.
  • Parrott played the first half, making one save, but allowing one goal. Maya Caon came on at the half and saved two shots to pick up the win.
  • Staten had three saves, and contributed an assist, but took the loss.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs host the Edward Waters Tigers on Halloween night at 7:00 pm on Buccaneer Field.
