Men's Soccer Tumbles 15th-Ranked Knights

Bucs beat Knights for the second straight time in Boca Raton

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers picked up another big conference win over a ranked opponent on Wednesday night in Sunshine State Conference men's soccer action, knocking off the 15th-ranked Lynn Fighting Knights in a rivalry battle at Bobby Campbell Stadium.

SUMMARY:

  • 20:18 - In the 21st minute, the Bucs won a freee kick on the edge of the box after a foul on Lukas Reitzler. Oier Calvillo delivered a shot on goal that Knight keeper Luca Clavero punched out, but right to Jean Ghafourian who scored for the second straight game. | Barry 2, Lynn 0
  • 33:55 - Clavero turned away Calvillo on a penalty kick after Fabio Menzel had a foul in the box to keep the game 2-0.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Barry out-shot the Knights 12-3, including 4-0 on goal.
  • Barry also led 2-1 on corners, as Lynn could find little in the way of offense.
  • Rafael Furlani did not face a shot on goal in posting his third shutout of the season.
  • Clavero had two saves, but conceded the goals to Silva and Ghafourian.
  • The game was the third straight for the Bucs against ranked teams, going 2-1-0.
  • Barry now has 21 points in the conference, matching the total from last season when they won the regular-season title.
