MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers opened with a big lead and then held off a furious rally by the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish to win 64-61 in Sunshine State Conference women's basketball action.

SUMMARY:
	- 1Q - Barry opened the game with a 12-0 run and lead by 13 at the break. The Bucs held the 'Fish to 1-for-15 shooting in the period.  | Bucs 17, Sailfish 4
- 2Q - The Bucs continued to roll early in the second quarter, using a 16-5 run to build a 22-point advantage with 6:00 left on a jumper by Trinity Bosecker. But the wheels came off a little and the Sailfish went on a 16-0 run of their own to cut the lead to six before the teams traded baskets at the end of the period. | Bucs 35, Sailfish 29
- 3Q -  Barry pushed the lead back to double figures, 42-31, on a layup by Ashleigh Pink after the first four minutes of the third quarter. A 7-0 run by the 'Fish trimmed the margin to four as Darria Whitley scored five points. Barry again built a double figure lead, 51-41 on a three-pointer by Camilla Flefil at 1:37, but PBA cut it back to five with a 5-0 run to close the frame.  | Bucs 51, Sailfish 46
- 4Q - PBA scored the first six points of the final quarter to take their first lead of the night, 52-51 on a layup by Maria Benitez-Zayas. A three-pointer by Dasiah Thornton Barry back up on the next possession and the teams swapped baskets and leads over the next  four minutes. But after a jumper by Whitley gave them a 59-58 lead with 4:18 to play, the Sailfish went cold from the field again and Barry rolled off six straight points, including another trey by Flefil. | Bucs 64, Sailfish 61
NOTEWORTHY:
	- Ashia Pool and Jeannie Scott led the Bucs with 13 points each and Bosecker added 10.
- Whitley led all scorers with 18, while Kash Ayuso chipped in 10 for PBA,
- Although both teams got 26 points in the paint, the Sailfish kept it closer by out-scoring Barry 19-6 off the offensive glass.
- Barry forced 19 turnovers and scored 18 points off them.
- After hitting just 7-of-13 from the line in the first three quarters, Barry was 5-of-6 in the fourth, while PBA went 0-for-2.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs visit the Saint Leo Lions on Saturday, Jan. 21 before returning home to take on the Florida Tech Panthers next Wednesday.
