Women's Basketball Loses To #8 Eckerd

Bucs fall to 3-5 in conference

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Barry battled the eighth-ranked and conference-leading Eckerd Tritons for three quarters before the hosts pulled away in the fourth with a 69-53 win in Sunshine State Conference women's basketball action in the McArthur Center on Wednesday night.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - The Tritons opened with a 16-0 run and never looked back. Barry managed to close the deficit to seven on a three-pointer by Ashia Pool with 0:08 seconds left. | Eckerd 23, Barry 16
  • 2Q - It was close throughout the second period, but Barry closed to within three points on a 5-0 run by Dasiah Thornton, who hit a layup and three-pointer in the last two minutes. | Eckerd 40, Barry 36

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Holliday led the Bucs with 13 points. 
  • Thornton chipped in 11 points and Ashleigh Pink added 10.
  • Trinity Bosecker had 10 rebounds, as Barry held a 40-38 edge on teh glass.
  • Scales led the Tritons ith 21 points, while Sofia Persson and Maya Price each added 13.
  • Person had 12 rebounds and Lauryn Vieira had 10.
  • Barry led in bench points with 33 to six for the Tritons.

The Bucs visit arch-rival Lynn on Saturday.
